I love Mexican food, and while a packet of taco seasoning won’t break the bank, I knew I could save some money over time by making my own. It took quite a few attempts to get the mix right but I got there in the end.
You will need:
2 teaspoons chilli powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic granules
1/4 teaspoon onion flakes
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
Salt & Pepper
Mix together all ingredients. Use in place of 1 packet of taco seasoning. It’s that simple!
This recipe is pretty mild. My boys aren’t big fans of spicy foods so it’s taken me a bit of trial and error to figure out what they like. If your family enjoy hot foods, you might want to bump the chilli powder up to a tablespoon and add about 1/4 of a teaspoon of black pepper.
Does your family enjoy Mexican food? If you try this recipe, I’d love to hear what you think in the comments below.
